Ski maintenance is often neglected, what a pity! All skiers are affected; the good skier as well as the average skier.

We often hear: "I don't compete", I don't try to go fast, (implied: quite the contrary). This is an all too common mistake because a ski that goes well in a straight line is also a ski that pivots more easily, in short, that turns better.

For this reason, all our skis on the return from rental go through the workshop for a control examination and are systematically waxed. An old-fashioned waxing, with an iron, not with a machine, which alone allows a real impregnation of the wax on the base and a longer duration of use.

We use Holmenkol wax, an ecological product, non-toxic for soils and groundwater. Wax for cold snow or for more or less wet snow depending on the progress of the season.

The workshop also carries out small repairs inevitably caused by small stones and the like. This is also old-fashioned work, with sanding of the sole "at the touch" without a trainer on the sanding machine.
Whether it's Romain or myself, we have trained in these techniques which remain traditional but are in our eyes the most reliable and respectful of the equipment entrusted by our customers.

A common mistake is to overlook small scratches. Even if their depth does not risk affecting the structure of the ski, it is likely that going over an obstacle again risks deepening the initial scratch or even damaging the edge, making repair much more difficult.

To neglect the maintenance of the skis is to deprive oneself of feeling the sensations they provided on the first day. That's a shame !

Wax? Sharpen? Maintain?

For individuals concerned about maintaining their equipment, we recommend dropping off their equipment in the evening for return the next morning when the store opens. This delay allows the ski to dry and maintain it at room temperature, thus allowing the wax to soak into the base overnight.

Before an expected fresh snowfall, it is a good idea to wax.
Conversely, if the snow begins to harden, consider sharpening the edges.
At the end of the season, or at the end of a week of skiing, plan an interview.

- Complete maintenance packs "edge sharpening + waxing, and/or filling" (online reservation directly on the website)

One last tip: when you get home, don't leave your skis in a wet bag or in a garage. This will prevent the metal edges from rusting, sometimes deeply, and causing them irreversible damage.
